Breaking News Live Updates: At least ten people have died and around 35 have been hospitalised in Sagar after allegedly consuming spurious liquor. Authorities have sealed six liquor shops, launched an investigation and deployed medical teams to screen affected residents.

In other news, at least 11 individuals lost their lives and seven others sustained injuries following a fuel tanker explosion during a traffic collision in western Iran on Saturday, according to state-run broadcaster IRIB.

The tragedy took place on an intercity route linking Sanandaj County in Kurdestan province with Hamedan County in Hamedan province. Babak Hodaei, head of the emergency medical services at Kurdestan University of Medical Sciences, stated that the blast ignited several adjacent automobiles.

Emergency responders transported the injured to a medical facility situated in Sanandaj, as reported by Xinhua news agency, while rescue efforts at the location remained ongoing.

This incident follows an event earlier in July where an oil tanker detonated in the Strait of Hormuz after hitting a naval mine, local media reported. The ship struck the explosive device after purportedly drifting away from paths established by Tehran.

According to accounts from Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency, the vessel strayed from designated channels and entered a zone restricted from safe maritime transit, ignoring prior alerts.

In response to media queries regarding a UN General Assembly resolution on equal-area world map, Official Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said: The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution entitled “Correct the Map: Rebalancing Global Cartographic Representation and Promoting Equitable Representation of the World’s Regions, Particularly Africa” on 4 September 2026. Its purpose is to encourage the use of equal-area map projections that preserve the relative sizes of continental landmasses. The resolution neither adopts nor authenticates any particular world map, nor does it address political cartography, including international boundaries, disputed territories or place names. India voted in favour of the resolution and also made an explanation of vote stressing on the underlying principle of promoting equal - area cartographic representation. We also highlighted that the resolution does not constitute endorsement of any specific map, projection or depiction of national boundaries. India’s sovereign territory, including the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, must be depicted in accordance with India’s official map. District Magistrate Pratibha Pal says, "There have been reports of illnesses and deaths allegedly caused by the consumption of illicit liquor since morning, and an investigation is underway at the Civil Hospital. Our team of doctors and the SDM team are also present in the surrounding areas, including the two identified villages of Naura and Ghugru, for screening. Anyone experiencing symptoms or who has consumed any type of liquor in the last 24 to 48 hours should get screened by a doctor. They can also visit the Civil Hospital or any other health facility for screening. We are monitoring such cases, and an administrative team is present to take necessary action based on the findings."
