Why is #FlipkartScam trending on social media ahead of Big Billion Day annual sale

Flipkart is currently facing criticism as it prepares for its annual sale. Social media users are accusing the e-commerce platform of running a scam under the guise of offering heavy discounts. The hashtag #FlipkartScam is trending on platform X, with numerous users sharing their frustrations.

The controversy started when customers reported problems with orders linked to Flipkart’s FireDrops platform, which offers NFT-based rewards for completing brand challenges. Several users claimed they experienced issues after ordering the Motorola G85 5G (128GB) at a significant discount through this platform.

One user, Neha, expressed her dissatisfaction, stating, "Enough is enough! Flipkart must own up to these viral scams. This is completely unprofessional! #FlipkartScam." Another user added, "Yes, #Flipkart scams mostly affect users like me. They cancel orders without reason on the day of delivery."


It is unclear if these complaints are genuine or if there are other explanations for the order cancellations. One customer shared their experience on platform X: "This morning, many of us ordered the Motorola G85 5G (128GB) from @Flipkart through the @0xFireDrops 99% off promotion. The seller, Grahgoods Retail, accepted and dispatched our orders, but suddenly cancelled all pending deliveries at 18:35:48 PM... And when we contacted to Flipkart's customer care service, they are claiming that it was a 'price glitch/error,' but it wasn't—the offer was clearly applied officially & automatically."

Flipkart's response to these allegations remains to be seen as the controversy continues to unfold on social media.
