“Welcome to Purgatory!”: Travelers react as IndiGo’s tech glitch causes chaos at Bengaluru Airport!

On Saturday, October 5, IndiGo experienced a technical glitch that temporarily slowed down its system across the network, disrupting flight operations and ground services. After several hours, the low-cost airline announced that services had resumed.

“Our systems are back to normal and are running smoothly. We deeply regret the inconvenience our customers had to face and really appreciate their patience and understanding, which played a key role in helping our teams deliver safe and efficient services during this time. Our frontline teams managed this technical issue with our digital systems, which presented an extraordinary challenge for our ground services team,” an official statement from IndiGo said.



The airline commended its staff for effectively handling the situation. “We are proud of them for their collaboration as they efficiently processed manual boarding passes and assisted in boarding thousands of customers, ensuring service continuity with minimal disruption,” the statement added.

However, the temporary glitch caused frustration among passengers. Complaints were shared on social media about delayed flights and long waits at airports.

One passenger tweeted, “Booked a last-minute flight coz I desperately needed to get home ASAP—only for the servers to crash and the flight to get delayed. So now, instead of zooming through the skies, I’m stuck in an airport purgatory where the only thing flying is my patience… out the window.#indigo”


Another passenger at Kolkata airport tweeted, “#Indigo airlines computer systems have crashed and they have a massive backup at airports. I am in Kolkata taking off. Is anyplace else is India having a similar issue.”







Other passengers reported similar experiences at Shirdi Airport and Bangalore’s Terminal 1, complaining about poor ground services and long waits.

IndiGo has acknowledged these issues and aims to improve its services to prevent similar disruptions in the future.
