Team India post picture of World Cup squad, fans wish them luck in Australia

Before they left Mumbai for Australia, all members of the team and support staff lined up for a picture which was shared on the social media accounts of the BCCI.

The Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma left for Australia on Thursday morning for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup starting October 16.

Before they left Mumbai for Australia, all members of the team and support staff lined up for a picture which was shared on the social media accounts of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

"Picture perfect, let's do this #TeamIndia. @cricketworldcup here we come," BCCI wrote on Twitter.

Cricket fans too joined in wishing the Indian team all success in the World Cup.

"Let’s bring it home boys… all the best,"replied a user

"We are proud of you all irrespective of results," said another.

"A brilliant bunch of people! Give it your best guys. Don’t care about the results. Just fight it out. Good luck!," wrote a third user.

The team suffered a setback just ahead of the T20 World Cup with pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah being ruled out with a back injury. With the pace attack causing a lot of concerns especially on the way they bowl in the death overs, Bumrah would be sorely missed Down Under.

The BCCI is yet to name a replacement for Bumrah, although fellow seamers Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar are among the players already on standby for the tournament.

Team India was able to generate some momentum before the World Cup by winning the bilateral series against Australia 3-0 and against South Africa 2-1. But the series did expose a few chinks in the Indian line-up.

India haven't won the T20 World Cup since 2007. In 2017, when it was held last, they failed to get past the quarter-finals

Before starting their World Cup campaign, India are scheduled play a couple of warm-up fixtures against Australia and New Zealand. They will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23 in Melbourne.
