Fitness trainer Siddhartha Singh, known for working with actor Tamannaah Bhatia, has weighed in on the ongoing protein debate by ranking common protein sources based on their nutritional efficiency. In an Instagram post shared on December 24, Singh rated popular foods on a scale of 1 to 10, focusing on protein quality, amino acid profile and practical usability, challenging several widely held assumptions about everyday staples.

Greek yoghurt tops protein ranking

Greek yoghurt emerged as the highest-rated option with a score of 10 out of 10. Singh highlighted its high protein content, ease of availability and versatility across sweet and savoury preparations, calling it an efficient and accessible protein source. Whey protein followed closely with a 9 out of 10, with Singh stressing that supplements should complement, not replace, whole foods.

Dal, sattu and peanut butter score low

Among traditional Indian staples, dal received a rating of 3 out of 10 due to its incomplete amino acid profile when consumed alone. Sattu and peanut butter were rated 1 out of 10, with Singh categorising sattu primarily as a carbohydrate source and noting that peanut butter, despite its popularity, offers limited protein per serving and is mainly a source of healthy fats.


Singh’s rankings sparked discussion among followers about misconceptions around protein intake and the importance of prioritising quality food sources before turning to supplements.
