Actor Kriti Sanon has drawn attention online after appearing in a jewellery advertisement centred around Raksha Bandhan. The actor featured in the campaign wearing an Indo-Western outfit that included a bralette-style blouse, a cape and a draped skirt.

The outfit sparked criticism on social media, with some users questioning whether the look suited an advertisement based on a traditional Indian festival.

Amid the online discussion, actor and politician Kangana Ranaut appeared to share her opinion on the controversy. She posted a note on her Instagram story on Monday evening, commenting on the choice of outfit in the advertisement.


“It's a wonderful time to be a woman. Our closets are full of variety of clothes, today's woman is a global woman. From cocktail dresses to lehenga cholis, jeans to saris, bikinis to salwar kameez, from all the options that are available to us today why would you tie your brother a rakhi in your bikini/undergarments? Where are all your styling options? Ha ha the advert looks intentionally creepy!”

The advertisement also received criticism from several social media users who felt that the styling did not fit the traditional setting of Raksha Bandhan, a festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. One user on X questioned the absence of traditional elements, writing, “Where is Puja Ki thali?” Kriti has not publicly responded to the criticism surrounding the advertisement.
