Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a video showing moments from his morning routine before leaving for the Red Fort to deliver his Independence Day address on the 80th Independence Day. The video showed him feeding cows and peacocks at his official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi.

“Feeding my friends every morning is a daily routine. Yesterday morning, they somehow realised I'm leaving early, so they came to meet me as I was leaving for the Red Fort. Special, as always,” Modi wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday.

Cows and peacocks feature in PM's morning routine

Cows and peacocks of a miniature breed have frequently appeared in the prime minister's social media posts. They are often seen accompanying him during his early morning walks on the lawns of his residence.

Feeding animals and birds is described as a daily ritual for Modi. The cows and peacocks are kept at his official residence, with the cattle including Punganur cows, a rare and ancient dwarf breed native to Andhra Pradesh.

The video captured moments from the morning before one of the prime minister's major annual events, which includes the ceremonial hoisting of the tricolour and his address to the nation from the historic Red Fort.

The post was shared amid intensified digital outreach by Modi, particularly towards Gen Z, following recent student protests in different parts of the country.
