Recently, a Flipkart buyer, Yashaswi Sharma, reported that he ordered a laptop on Flipkart, but instead received a detergent soap. Similarly, Mumbai-based Ashok Bhambhani ordered a OnePlus 10T smartphone worth over Rs 50,000 on Amazon but got a dish-washing bar. Another buyer, Arpit Mehrotra, reported that he received a different brand smartwatch instead of Apple Watch he ordered from Amazon.
However, these incidents are shocking but customers can also avoid these wrong deliveries by just being little more vigilant when accepting deliveries.
According to reports, both Amazon and Flipkart have started an OTP system to solve the problem of wrong deliveries and verify the correct product shipment. A lot of customers are not aware that both Amazon and Flipkart have policies of “open box” service. The "open box" service allows customers to verify whether the delivered item is genuine or not, at the time of delivery.
According to Amazon “Open box inspection is available for all orders. Customers can inspect the product for damages, correctness and completeness before accepting the delivery.”
How to avoid wrong delivery by Flipkart and Amazon?
Online customers should also check whether their order supports open box service or not. This can help you to verify whether you have received a genuine product at the time of delivery or not.
If the product is not under 'Open Box Service', buyers can opt pay on delivery. Nowadays online companies give options like payment through bank cards, wallets or UPI at the time of delivery. This way, even if you receive a wrong product by chance, you don’t have to worry about losing your money.
