Netflix drops ‘Devil May Cry’ Season 2 trailer: Check release date, plot and other details

Streaming giant Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Devil May Cry Season 2, offering fans a high-octane glimpse into the next chapter of the hit animated adaptation of Capcom’s iconic franchise. The new season is set to premiere on May 12, with the platform teasing what it calls “one hell of a family reunion.”

The upcoming season raises the stakes significantly, centering on a war between worlds as demon hunter Dante faces his most formidable opponent yet — his estranged twin brother Vergil. The sibling rivalry, a core theme of the franchise, takes center stage as the two half-demon brothers prepare for an intense and emotional confrontation.

According to the official synopsis, Dante must not only battle external threats but also confront his inner demons and unresolved trauma stemming from his childhood. The return of Vergil forces him to reckon with long-buried memories and raises a critical question: will he finally lay his past to rest or succumb to it?


Series creator Adi Shankar, known for his work on Castlevania, hinted that Season 2 will break away from predictable storytelling. “I’m allergic to formula. I dislike when successful shows turn into comfort food,” Shankar said, adding that his goal was to recreate the unpredictability of early 2000s blockbuster franchises where audiences “can’t predict the next turn.”

The voice cast continues to feature Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante, Robbie Daymond as Vergil, and Scout Taylor-Compton as Lady. Animation duties are once again handled by Studio Mir, the South Korean studio known for its work on visually acclaimed series.

Season 1 of Devil May Cry received strong viewership numbers on Netflix, building anticipation for the follow-up. With its mix of action, emotional depth, and stylised animation, Season 2 is expected to expand the universe further while diving deeper into the complex bond between Dante and Vergil.
