Delhi Metro's Blue Line experienced disruptions throughout Thursday due to cable theft between Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar stations. The incident forced trains to operate at reduced speeds, causing delays and bunching. DMRC officials stated the i...

DMRC said that passengers could expect delays on one of the busiest lines because of the incident. In a statement, the corporation said that the issue would only be resolved after operational hours, leading to restricted train speeds during the day.
As a result, services on this section are running slower than usual, causing delays. DMRC has urged commuters to plan their journeys accordingly, considering the additional travel time required.
The Blue Line connects Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida City Centre and Vaishali. The disruption is likely to impact a significant number of daily commuters until normal operations resume.
“Train services on Blue Line are being regulated today since morning due to prima facie what appears to be a case of theft and damage to signaling cables caused by some thieves/miscreants between Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar Metro stations,” said Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director, Corporate Communications at DMRC.
What happens during cable theft?
The DMRC said that the incident has led to signalling issues on the Blue Line, resulting in trains having to be operated at restricted speeds. This has led to either delayed services or bunching up of trains. When this happens, the positioning of trains in manually managed instead of the online system which controls driverless trains, Dayal said.
He added though bunching of trains is occurring, there were normal services on the rest of the Blue Line.
