Delhi honey trap case: Gurgaon MNC employee lured through online app, kidnapped and assaulted; Rs 70 lakh demanded, 6 arrested

An employee of a multinational company in Gurgaon was allegedly honey-trapped by a couple in south Delhi’s Neb Sarai last month and subsequently kidnapped, assaulted and allegedly extorted for Rs 70 lakh, police said.

The man, identified as Pawandeep Joshi, was later rescued from Mathura. Six people, including the alleged husband-wife duo, have been arrested in connection with the case.

Missing complaint filed on August 22

The case was registered at Maidan Garhi police station on August 22 after Joshi’s brother reported him missing.


During the investigation, police found that two of the accused, Indu alias Lisa Sharma, 20, and her husband Jitender Yadav alias Jeetu, 32, were operating an account on an online marketplace application.

According to police, the duo used the platform to establish contact with Joshi.

Woman allegedly lured victim through online marketplace

DCP (South) Anant Mittal said Indu allegedly contacted Joshi on the pretext of purchasing household goods through the online platform.

After the two agreed to meet, she allegedly called him to her flat in Neb Sarai. Police said Jitender and his associates then allegedly confined and assaulted Joshi and demanded Rs 70 lakh from him.

Victim allegedly taken across Haryana and Uttar Pradesh

According to investigators, Joshi was subsequently taken in his own Tata Harrier SUV through different locations in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Police used technical surveillance and location analysis to track his movements. His location was traced to Mathura on August 23, a day after the missing-person complaint was registered.

Police intercept SUV in Mahipalpur

The investigation later focused on tracking the victim’s SUV. Technical surveillance and location inputs helped police trace the vehicle to the Mahipalpur area on August 30.

Police said the vehicle was spotted near a five-star hotel. The occupants allegedly attempted to flee after seeing the police team, but officers chased and intercepted the SUV.

Jeetu and Indu were arrested at the spot, police said.

Four more accused arrested

Further investigation and surveillance led police to four alleged accomplices, who were subsequently arrested from Delhi and Palwal.

Victim's SUV, cards and jewellery recovered

Police said they recovered Joshi’s Tata Harrier, mobile phone, two credit cards, a debit card, PAN card, registration certificate and driving licence.

Investigators also seized a 10-gram gold pendant, a 15-gram gold chain and clothes that were allegedly purchased using the victim’s credit card.

Police said further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and the individual roles of those arrested.
