According to reports by Mothership and ET Today, Wei found incriminating text messages between his wife, Jie (pseudonym), and her colleague, Yong, in November 2023. The messages revealed that the two had been in a physical relationship and even referred to each other as “husband and wife.”
How the affair began
Wei and Jie had been married since 2006 and appeared to have a stable relationship for over 15 years. In 2022, Jie began an affair with Yong, who worked at the same school in a more senior position. Yong was reportedly the accounting director, while Jie was a teacher.The two frequently met at hotels and exchanged intimate messages. Wei discovered the affair through his wife’s phone, leading him to file a lawsuit against Yong for emotional harm.
Court asks wife to pay Rs 37 lakh compensation to husband
During the trial, the court noted that Wei had already shown signs of emotional distress before discovering the affair. Yong argued that he was unaware that Jie was married.However, the judge ruled that Yong had knowingly interfered in Wei and Jie’s marriage and violated Wei’s spousal rights. The court also noted that Yong earned significantly more than Wei and ordered him to pay 300,000 yuan (around ₹37 lakh) to the husband in compensation.
The lover has been given the option to appeal the verdict.
