The mail from the company had left the job seeker absolutely shocked. The person who had applied for the job only shared a portion of the mail that was sent to him.
The job applicant was utterly astonished by the email received from the company. They chose to share a small excerpt of the message, expressing their astonishment and disbelief. The individual posted the snippet online, questioning whether the company had the right to impose such a requirement or reject their candidacy based on it.
“Applied for a job, received this in an email. Can they force this upon me or not hire me based on this?" he said while sharing the snippet.
"Thanks for your application. To help us shortlist, please reply to the following question: Our workplaces are strictly vegan. You do not have to be vegan away from work, but you do need to bring a vegan lunch and have plant milk to eat on-site or eat lunch off-site. Can you confirm you are fine with this?" read a portion of the mail.

“I once applied to a restaurant that was the same. They said I could eat non-vegan foods somewhere outside with some distance or at home but forbidden on site,” a user wrote.
"Yes, they can not hire you over this. There are specific characteristics they cannot base a hiring decision on… gender, religion, ethnic origin, etc… but your dietary choice is not a protected class," other user said.
Another user, who happens to be a vegan, expressed her thoughts by stating, "The only scenario where I could possibly comprehend this is if it's a vegan café or grocery store, and they have concerns about allergens or similar issues. Even then, it seems like a significant stretch. For any other type of job, this requirement is incredibly strange."
