A Ukrainian commander has transformed an old Soviet-era sanatorium into a recovery centre for servicemen. The centre in the Kharkiv region treats both physical and mental ailments through a variety of methods. Suicide among veterans increased in recent years, with many untreated cases of post-traumatic stress disorder. At a cost of $21 per day, more than 2,000 soldiers and their families have been treated here since it opened in June.
