Republican State Senator Wins Florida Special Election, Expands GOP House Majority

Trump-backed Republican state Sen. Randy Fine secured Florida’s 6th Congressional District in a special election, filling the seat vacated by Mike Waltz, now Trump’s National Security Advisor. Fine defeated Democrat Josh Weil, despite being vastly outspent. The race, seen as a referendum on Trump’s presidency, was the district’s closest since 2018. Fine’s win strengthens the GOP’s slim House majority.
