Hostages at sea? Kremlin warns of escalation after U.S SEALs seize Russian oil tanker
U.S. forces have boarded and seized a Russian-flagged oil tanker in the northern Atlantic after a weeks-long chase, triggering furious reactions from Moscow and Beijing and raising fears of a dangerous escalation between nuclear-armed powers. The vessel, formerly known as Bella 1 had been sanctioned for operating within a so-called 'shadow fleet' accused of transporting illicit oil tied to Iran and Venezuela.
