'Don't you dare harm our officials…': Trans woman jailed for 6 yrs in bid to assassinate Bessent
Riley Jane English has been sentenced to 73 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to plotting to kill Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Prosecutors sought a longer sentence, but the judge cited English’s age, personal circumstances, mental and physical health issues, and the fact that no one was injured. English had traveled to Washington with a knife and two small incendiary devices before ultimately surrendering to Capitol Police.
