Claude duet app: Anthropic on Thursday unveiled Claude Duet, a standalone AI agent app designed to act as a proactive assistant for professionals and small-business owners. The rollout of app comes as rivals such as OpenAI and Meta are also in tough competition to develop AI agents that can complete work autonomously on users' behalf.

Available on iOS, Android and claude.ai, Claude duet monitors users' connected apps and surfaces items requiring attention rather than waiting for prompts. It delivers a daily briefing and handles tasks ranging from scheduling meetings to building financial forecasts and web apps, Anthropic said.

The most important feature about Claude duet app is that unlike a chatbot that waits for instructions, Claude Duet can proactively alert users about important updates and help complete tasks across different apps. “We built Claude Duet for professionals and small business with more on their plates than they can track,” Anthropic said.

What can Claude duet app do?

According to Anthropic, every morning Claude duet app sends users a short brief on the most important items across your connected apps. Throughout the day, it keeps tabs on those apps and messages users only when something needs your attention. Users can also hand it tasks of all shapes—from simple administrative tasks of scheduling meetings to more complex ones, such as building dashboards with dozens of tools, creating financial or sales forecasts, prototyping, and building web apps.

From creating dashboards to financial forecasts

Another interesting feature of Claude duet app is that users can use it for scheduling meetings and writing emails to creating dashboards, preparing financial forecasts and building web apps. It is actually is designed to decide which tasks need attention first and when it should ask users for help.

One of Claude Duet’s main features is that it can keep working even when users are away from their phones or computers. It uses a virtual computer with its own browser to handle tasks in the background. Users can give instructions through text or voice in one ongoing conversation and get a notification when a task is finished or needs their review.

Claude Duet also brings over saved memories, skills and connected apps from a user’s existing Claude account, making it easier to get started. Anthropic says the app is designed to ask permission before taking important actions. It can read messages, draft replies and prepare work on its own, but it needs approval before sending messages, making payments, signing documents or deleting anything. Some actions, such as trading stocks or transferring money between accounts, are not allowed even with user approval.

"We’re also releasing Claude Duet with a new dedicated classifier and safety system prompt that checks each message and guards against leaks of sensitive information. An agent that reads email and sends messages for you is constantly deciding where information should go. This new classifier and prompt are designed to reject requests to share the strictest tier of information, including credit card numbers and government identification. Other sensitive information, such as health or personal finances, are let through only when you’ve explicitly instructed Claude Duet to send it," Anthropic said.

Where is Claude Duet app available?

Anthropic has launched Claude Duet as a research preview, with access initially limited to Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the US through a waitlist. Users can access it through a standalone app on iOS and Android or via claude.ai. During the preview, Claude Duet uses the same usage limits as a user’s existing Claude subscription. However, background activity and complex tasks may use up those limits faster than regular chats.
