Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2: Inside the Luxury Homes of Westmont Village

As the show returns for Season 2 on April 3, the focus isn’t just on the drama, it’s also on the spaces that shape the characters. Production designer Anu Schwartz explains that each home was carefully chosen to reflect personality, status, and the subtle competition among residents in this fictional Westchester County community, as per a report.

Jon Hamm as Andrew “Coop” Cooper and Mel Cooper’s Home: Warmth, Elegance, and Craftsman Charm

At the center is Andrew “Coop” Cooper, played by Jon Hamm, whose journey takes a darker turn as he resorts to stealing from the very people he once tried to keep up with.

His wife Mel’s home, filmed in Harrison, was designed to feel warm and refined, standing apart from the typical oversized houses in the neighborhood. In contrast, Coop’s own space feels colder and less personal after their split.

Schwartz said, “We always wanted Mel to have more of a refined taste and set her apart from other characters in the show, and also create this warmth in her home,” adding, “So it's beautiful and warm at the same time, in contrast to Coop's divorce home, which is a little colder and less personal,” as quoted by People.

He pointed out that, “McMansion is always the word thrown around. They tend to reflect an architectural style that is not fully thought through,” adding, "They're grand, they're big, but they might have details that are just a little bit off. So Mel's home was one that we found in this kind of craftsman style with classic lines, beautiful finishes, a great color,” as quoted by People.

Samantha Levitt’s House: Balancing Luxury with Personal Roots

Other homes tell their own stories. Samantha Levitt’s house, shot in Purchase, reflects her effort to fit into the wealthy community while still holding onto elements of her past. Schwartz explained that, “She had to fit in. So she had to create a home that reflected the neighborhood and her neighbors,” adding, “She just stepped right up to the line of almost garish, but was able to pull it together. And a lot of that thought went into her accessories and things that she had. She would have leopard-skin something, but yet the furniture had to still be nice,” as quoted by People.

Nick Brandes’ Mansion: Oversized Luxury and Extravagant Features

Meanwhile, Nick Brandes’ new mansion, filmed on Long Island, leans into excess, with features like a bowling alley and an expanded basketball court. Schwartz said, “Nick was a great character because being a basketballer, it's so fun to just look into who he paralleled in reality with other players,” adding, “So the research was so great because they're always fun homes,” as quoted by People.

Owen Ashe's House: Global Wealth and Impulsive Style

Newcomer Owen Ashe, played by James Marsden, brings a different kind of luxury. His homes, filled with rare art and global pieces, highlight his wealth and impulsive taste, with one property in Westmont and another modern retreat in the Hamptons. Schwartz shared that, “We decided that it would be more interesting for him as a character to show this totally different style home,” adding, “He buys what he likes in the moment, and he has the power and the money to do it,” as quoted by People.
