The Chosen Season 6 Prime Video

The Chosen Season 6 Prime Video: Fans of The Chosen finally have a clearer idea of when and how they’ll watch Season 6, with a release plan that blends streaming and a theatrical finale.

The Chosen Season 6 Release Date and Streaming Plan on Prime Video Explained

The new season will premiere on November 15, 2026, with the first three episodes dropping at once on Prime Video in the US and internationally, as per a report. After that, the story will continue with weekly episodes, arriving on November 22, November 29, and December 6.

Instead of ending on streaming, the season will wrap up with a finale set for a theatrical release in spring 2027, as per a Forbes report.

Why The Chosen Season 6 Is Skipping a Full Theatrical Release

This rollout marks a shift from previous seasons, where episodes were first released in theaters before eventually arriving on streaming platforms.

The change follows a 2025 deal between Amazon MGM Studios and 5&2 Studios, which secured streaming rights for the series, including its final two seasons. Under this approach, only select episodes, such as the Season 6 finale and the Season 7 premiere, will be released in theaters first, with those episodes expected to stream later, as per the Forbes report.

Plot of The Chosen Season 6 Explained

Creator Dallas Jenkins said the story being told in Season 6 goes beyond familiar events, focusing on the meaning behind the final 24 hours of Jesus’ life. Jenkins said, “Everyone knows the basics of this part of the story, but not everyone knows the ‘why’ of the crucifixion and the extraordinary events of these 24 hours,” adding that, “We realized this not only deserved a season of television but a standalone full-length theatrical event as well. We wrote and filmed all of it with this in mind," as quoted by Forbes.

Why Season 6 Took Longer to Film

Even though the storyline spans just a single day, production took longer than usual. Filming lasted 86 days, nearly 20 days more than any previous season, with many scenes requiring overnight shoots because they take place at night. Jenkins described the process as "exhausting", and explained that, "This season is an 86-day shoot. It’s almost 20 days longer than any other season we’ve ever done,” adding, “It’s the physical challenges, the logistical challenges that make it even harder,” as quoted by Forbes.

The Chosen Season 6 Cast and Returning Characters

The season also brings back many of the series’ regular cast members, including Jonathan Roumie as Jesus, alongside returning actors portraying key figures such as Peter, Matthew, Mary Magdalene, and Pontius Pilate.

Where to Watch Previous Seasons of The Chosen

With all five previous seasons already available on Prime Video, viewers can follow the story so far before Season 6 begins.
