They are more likely to take action on certain issues than their predecessors, even though the level of significance for both generations is the same. This attitude change can be largely blamed on the fact that the new generation entered the workforce in the middle of economic instability after the pandemic. Job security and commitment to a single organization are no longer correlated, unlike how previous generations of employees viewed their career.

The emergence of different standards for what is considered normal has caused this kind of a rebellion, and it is not necessarily oppositional. Behaviors that were previously considered normal due to efficiency or hierarchical structure are now being judged by the standards of sustainability. Work habits were previously seen as dedication to one’s work, but are now being interpreted as inefficiency or lack of planning.
There is a shift in the way the average workplace functions. Organizations are being asked to change, not only in terms of policy but also in terms of attitude. The expectations brought by Gen Z force a questioning of the status quo, but also reveal areas where the status quo was not actually working.
