Patel and Wilkins have faced public scrutiny over Patel’s use of government aircraft and FBI resources. Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee criticized Patel’s private jet use after reports said he had used a government aircraft for trips involving sporting events and visits connected to Wilkins. One trip involved an FBI jet flying to State College, Pennsylvania, for a pro wrestling event where Wilkins performed the national anthem.

Patel has said he is legally restricted from flying commercial. He also told “The Katie Miller Podcast” in December, “[We] pay for our personal travel, which we do, like all members of the Cabinet and other agency heads do.”
