Bridgerton spinoff: Young Lady Danbury expected to return; who will play Young Violet Bridgerton?

Violet Bridgerton has spent much of Netflix's romance series helping her children find the kind of love she once shared with Edmund. Her own courtship is finally getting its turn. Netflix and Shondaland have announced a limited series about young Violet and the man who becomes her husband. A familiar face from Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is reportedly returning, too. Arsema Thomas has confirmed her involvement, according to What's on Netflix. Plenty remains under wraps, including the lead actors, leaving fans with a new question: who will bring the original Bridgerton love match to life?

What is the Violet Bridgerton spinoff about?

The prequel will follow Violet's early life and her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton. Netflix announced the project on October 8.

Their marriage sits behind many of the main show's most emotional scenes. Violet's belief in love comes from having experienced it herself. Her children grow up with that example, even after losing their father.

A series centred on the couple offers something the flagship has largely left to memories. Viewers will meet Violet before motherhood, when her own future is still being decided. The project does not yet have an official title.

Who is the first reported returning cast member?

Arsema Thomas, who played young Agatha Danbury in Queen Charlotte, is the first actor reported to have confirmed her involvement.

What's on Netflix says Thomas shared an Instagram Story celebrating the announcement. The outlet also cites confirmation through a private message with Black Film Alerts.

Netflix has not issued an official casting announcement. Thomas's reported confirmation should therefore be distinguished from a cast list released by the streamer.

Her return could reconnect the story with Queen Charlotte, where young Violet and Lady Danbury already shared a world. Details of Danbury's role in the new series remain undisclosed.

Will Ruth Gemmell return as Violet Bridgerton?

Gemmell plays the adult Violet in Bridgerton, but her involvement in the spinoff has not been confirmed.

Connie Jenkins-Greig portrayed young Violet in Queen Charlotte. Whether she will return for Violet's courtship years is also unknown.

Rupert Evans previously appeared as Edmund in Bridgerton's second-season flashbacks. Casting for the younger Edmund has not been announced.

A structure moving between younger and older characters would allow familiar actors to appear. Queen Charlotte used that approach, but the new show's timeline structure remains unconfirmed.

Who is making the Violet Bridgerton spinoff?

Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini will lead the limited series as showrunners and writers. Both worked on Queen Charlotte. Tom Verica is attached as director and executive producer. Betsy Beers will also executive produce.

Julia Quinn's novella Violet in Bloom offers an existing account of Violet and Edmund's relationship. It appears in The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After, published in 2013. Fans can read it for background, although it should not be treated as a scene-by-scene preview of the Netflix production.

When will the Violet Bridgerton spinoff premiere?

Netflix has not announced a release date. The episode count has not been confirmed either. Queen Charlotte's six-episode run does not establish how long Violet's series will be.
