Cyberattack disrupts UK's NHS 111 Emergency Line
The NHS 111 telephone line has been hit by a cyber attack, causing difficulties in its operation. It is a medical emergency number which is widely used by the public across the UK.

According to Advanced, a corporation offering online services for NHS 111, the security flaw was detected early Thursday.
The outage impacted Adastra, a platform used to refer patients for treatment, ambulance service, after-hours scheduling appointments, and immediate prescriptions. Adastra is used by up to 85 per cent of NHS 111 operators and several after-hours services.

The incident made it necessary for 111 staff throughout the UK to continue delivering service using pen and paper.
Simon Short's view on the attack
Short claimed that the corporation isolated its health services to prevent the attack after discovering the issue. An early intervention like this restricted the problem to a small number of servers that made up about 2% of Advanced's health and care infrastructure, despite being regrettably highly essential services.
Instead of a nation-state, it is thought that a different set of hackers were in charge. Although not much about the breach has been publicly disclosed, ransomware is thought to be involved.
Advanced is coordinating with the NHS, health and care organizations, and security partners to restore all networks immediately.
Investigation to set up for the cyberattack
According to reports, the National Crime Agency is cooperating with Advanced to investigate a cybersecurity incident.
The organisation had been warned about the attack
The cyberattack occurred months after the NHS Cyber Alert Service issued a warning that an unidentified threat group was leveraging the Log4Shell vulnerability to target unfixed VMware Horizon servers in a bid to establish a presence within the vulnerable networks. Following that, attackers can steal data or use harmful software like ransomware.
