West Bengal begins border fencing; govt hands over 27-km stretch to Border Security Force

Suvendu Adhikari announced a new mechanism under which alleged infiltrators detained by police will be handed over directly to the Border Security Force for deportation. Describing it as part of a broader “detect, delete and deport” policy, the Bengal government also handed over the first tranche of land for fencing a 27-km unfenced stretch along the Bangladesh border. The move signals a tougher approach on infiltration and border management under the new BJP government in the state.
