'Violence will not solve Manipur crisis': N. Biren Singh condemns killings, speaks on NRC

Former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh condemned the killing of village guards in Kangpokpi district and appealed to communities to abandon violence and resolve differences through dialogue. Speaking in Imphal on 12 October, Singh said violence would not resolve Manipur's crisis and urged communities to recognise their shared identity as citizens of India and Manipur. He also said the state government had proposed the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to the Centre and expressed confidence that it would eventually be implemented. His remarks followed the killing of three Naga village guards in an attack by suspected militants at Makui Ashang village on 10 October.
