Varanasi ropeway: Viral video misleading, gondola sway part of safety tests, clarifies officials
A video showing a ropeway gondola swaying during trial runs in Varanasi triggered safety concerns on social media. The Varanasi administration and National Highways Logistics Management Limited clarified that the visuals are from routine emergency braking tests. Officials said the sway was within permissible limits, the system meets international safety standards, and there is no structural or mechanical flaw in India’s first urban ropeway project.
