UK: Sagar Adani calls for faster electrification, says India needs 2,000 GW new power capacity

Speaking at the Adani Green Electrification Dialogue in London, Adani Green Energy Executive Director Sagar Adani said India must add nearly 2,000 GW of new power generation capacity over the next two decades to meet rising energy demand and strengthen energy security. He highlighted the need for a balanced energy mix comprising renewables, hydro, efficient thermal and nuclear power, while stressing that affordable and reliable baseload energy remains critical. Sagar Adani also outlined the Adani Group's plans to build 50 GW of renewable capacity by 2030, a 10 GW nuclear portfolio by 2035, and support the country's energy transition through investments in storage, transmission and green hydrogen.
