Cloudburst triggers flash floods in Uttarkashi's Dharali; At least 4 dead, dozens feared trapped
Uttarakhand Cloudburst News: A sudden cloudburst near Dharali village in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district unleashed deadly flash floods and landslides on Tuesday, leaving at least four people dead and several homes destroyed. A chilling video from the scene shows residents screaming and fleeing as torrents of water rip through the hillside village, sweeping away houses and anything in their path.

The cloudburst struck around 1:45 PM near Harsil, just 4 km from the Indian Army’s Harshil camp. Within minutes, the Army’s Ibex Brigade mobilised over 150 personnel, who launched rescue operations under intense conditions. So far, 15 to 20 people have been evacuated, and several injured civilians are receiving treatment at the Army’s medical facility in Harshil.

The scale of destruction prompted an immediate multi-agency response. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and local authorities have joined the rescue efforts. SDRF IG Arun Mohan Joshi confirmed that multiple teams equipped with specialised gear are on-site and working in close coordination.
