Two Ukrainians were detained by Government Railway Police (GRP) at Badarpur in Assam's Karimganj district for illegally entering the country.

The GRP personnel detained Chrisinsky Volodimir, 39 and Nazari Voznyuk, 21, while they were travelling through the Agartala-New Delhi (Anand Vihar) Tripura Sundari Express train on Thursday night.

A senior official in the state government who does not want to be named told ET, “These people were travelling without valid passports. They were handed over to Karimganj police. The embassy is contacted to verify their details.”


He added, "We are waiting for confirmation from the Ukrainian embassy”.
