The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Friday issued summons to Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) chief Madhabi Puri Buch and officials from the department of economic affairs to appear on October 24, ET has learnt.

The PAC on Friday also summoned top officials from the department of revenue to review the goods and services tax collections and recent notices being sent to corporates, including to IT giant Infosys.

The PAC is headed by Congress leader KC Venugopal and has members from both the ruling NDA and the opposition INDIA bloc.


"The officials were asked about the rise in GST frauds, recent tax notices sent to corporates and also specific queries on recent reports by Comptroller & Auditor General regarding 2,447 cases involving revenue loss of Rs32,000 crore," a person aware of the meeting said.

The revenue department has sought time till December 31 to respond to the queries raised by the PAC, the person said.

Buch has been accused of conflict of interest and allegations by the opposition Congress party over payments made to her by her former employer ICICI Bank. She has denied all the charges levelled against her.
