Northeast flood fury: 8 feared dead in Nagaland landslides; 1.7L affected in Assam floods
At least 9 people have been killed in floods and landslides across northern and northeastern India after torrential rains triggered widespread destruction over the weekend. In Nagaland, massive landslides in Mon district have left at least eight people, including children, feared dead, with rescue teams recovering four bodies. In Assam, the flood situation has worsened, with over 1.70 lakh people affected across 12 districts and more than 10,362 hectares of crop area inundated. The Brahmaputra and several tributaries continue to rise and NDRF, SDRF teams are carrying out rescue operations.
