NEET-UG: Successful candidates face anxiety over paper leak controversy
NEET-UG aspirants who have cleared this year's exam are experiencing anxiety due to a paper leak and subsequent calls for a retest, as reported by TOI. Many students are seeking professional counseling to manage the stress.

"NEET-UG does not follow a pattern and is known for its ever-changing nature and unpredictability. Amid this, if re-examination is ordered, I might not qualify again," TOI quoted Vidisha Kumari, who scored 667 after spending five years preparing in Kota, as saying.
Her sentiment reflects the anxiety of many who fear their hard-earned success might be undone.
The uncertainty has affected thousands of students, with over 50,000 seats available in government medical colleges and about 24 lakh students registered for NEET-UG 2024. The situation has prompted a CBI probe and demands for cancellation from political parties, including the RJD, Congress, and CPI-ML. Despite these demands, the Supreme Court has ordered the counselling process to proceed, starting on July 6, while seeking responses from the Centre and NTA on the cancellation pleas.
"My daughter, who scored 666 out of 720, is depressed and we are consulting a doctor," said the mother of Julie Singh (name changed), who also spent five years preparing in Kota.
Dr. Saurabh Kumar, a psychiatrist in Patna, noted an increase in young patients who have cleared NEET-UG but are worried about their future. The current situation has led to widespread distress among students who have already endured a rigorous preparation process.
