Nadda, Saurav Das confirm quashing of FIRs, funds to be released; Sept 5 CJP protest called off
Union Minister JP Nadda said the government has fulfilled its assurance to protesting students that cases registered against them would be withdrawn and no harsh action would be taken in the future. The announcement comes after negotiations with the protesters, who have now called off their planned September 5 protest. CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the issue involving around 2,800 people identified through facial recognition technology has been resolved, while the government also assured the Supreme Court that compensation would be paid to eligible families within 90 days.
