Delhi’s big solar push: CM Rekha Gupta announces free 3 kW rooftop systems for 2.3 lakh homes

Delhi cabinet clears a major rooftop solar push under its revised Delhi Solar Policy. The government plans to provide free 3 kW rooftop solar systems to around 2.30 lakh households by March 2027, with zero upfront cost for eligible consumers. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said households consuming up to 400 units of electricity can benefit, while existing electricity subsidies will continue. The initiative aims to reduce power bills, lower the upfront cost of solar installation and accelerate clean energy adoption across the national capital under the government’s ‘Green Delhi’ vision.
