Searches on Amazon, Flipkart and Penguin Random House India’s official website showed that the book could not be found or was listed as unavailable, hours after Rahul Gandhi displayed a copy in the Lok Sabha and quoted from it.
Earlier in the day, Gandhi in the Lok Sabha cited the book to allege that Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to take responsibility during the 2020 India–China military standoff in eastern Ladakh.
"The book is available abroad, it's published abroad. The government is not allowing it to be published here," Gandhi claimed.
Displaying the book inside Parliament, Gandhi said the Speaker and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had claimed that the book did not exist. “This is Naravane ji’s book, in which he has written the account of Ladakh. Narendra Modi ji did not fulfil his responsibility. He told the Army chief to do whatever he felt was appropriate,” Rahul Gandhi said.
Previously, he has alleged in Parliament that the Speaker and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh claimed the book did not exist, before he held up a copy and quoted passages related to the India–China military confrontation in eastern Ladakh.
Citing the book, Rahul Gandhi claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had conveyed to the then Army chief during the crisis to do “jo uchit samjho woh karo”, and said General Naravane had written that he felt “really alone” at the time.
