‘Many thought we wouldn’t succeed in adopting declaration’: Ramaphosa hails Modi as ‘world leader’

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India’s leadership at the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi. Ramaphosa said India was the ‘focal point’ in steering discussions towards consensus and hailed the successful adoption of the New Delhi Declaration despite expectations of disagreements. He also spoke about India-South Africa trade, local-currency payments, UN reform and BRICS cooperation.
