Mansukh Mandaviya asks EPFO to set up notification system for PF deductions

Labour and employment minister Mansukh Mandaviya has directed the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to implement a robust and transparent system for all members related to their provident fund deductions, a move aimed at ensuring greater transparency and accountability.

“This directive was issued during a review meeting held with EPFO officials on Friday,” the ministry said in a statement issued after the meeting.

As per the statement, minister Mandaviya directed the officials to develop an efficient and time-bound digital mechanism that would regularly notify employees about the provident fund (PF) deductions made from their salaries.


Further, the minister also stressed on the importance of addressing grievances effectively. “He instructed EPFO to identify the root causes responsible for the generation of grievances and to ensure systemic, sustainable solutions are implemented in a time-bound manner,” it added.

According to the statement, Mandaviya underscored that these measures are crucial for building trust between employers and employees, enhancing transparency, and improving the overall efficiency of the provident fund system in India.

The minister is reviewing the functioning of EPFO across departments in a phased manner to significantly enhance the efficiency of the retirement fund body.

Last week, the minister directed EPFO to introduce the revamped IT system (EPFO IT System 2.01) in three months to enhance ease of living for over 60 million EPFO subscribers and greater ease of compliance for employers.

This is expected to substantially ease the processes and turn-around time for various member and employer’s transactions.
