Kashi Ropeway trials phase 2: Varanasi prepares cultural makeover for commuters

Kashi’s urban transport ropeway project in Varanasi has entered the second phase of trial runs as construction progresses towards completion. Along the ropeway corridor, the Varanasi Municipal Corporation’s Kashi Terrace Artwork Project aims to transform rooftops into colourful canvases celebrating the city’s heritage. Spread across 11,120.34 square metres, the artwork will feature the Ganga ghats, Gangetic dolphins, aquatic life, Banarasi tea, kachoris, paan, rickshaws and other cultural icons. Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal says the initiative aims to connect visitors with Kashi’s tourism and culture while preserving the city’s identity.
