EPFO settles 13.6 million claims amounting to Rs 57,316 crore in Q1

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation settled 13.6 million claims in the first quarter (April-June) of the FY ’2024-25 with payment outgo of Rs 57,316.09 crore.

“The number of claims settled is 25.1% higher compared to 10.9 million claims settled in the first quarter of preceding financial year with the payment outgo of Rs 45,820.69 crore,” the retirement fund body said.

“EPFO is committed to providing the highest standards of service delivery to its stakeholders,” it said, adding EPFO is relentlessly working towards the commitment to ease of living for its members through various reforms undertaken.


The EPFO, one of the world’s largest social security organizations, has continuously improved its service area, particularly settlement of claims.

These include multiple initiatives for faster claim settlement and information dissemination for return of the claim for incomplete information or rejection due to ineligibility of the claim.

As per the EPFO, a system has been put in place to keep the subscribers informed, by sending SMS to his registered mobile number in case of claim rejection.

The claimant can click on the link provided in the SMS to know the reason of rejection or return and status of settlement, it said.

Alternatively, claimants can also login into member portal to know the status accordingly, it said, adding that the system has enabled an increase in settlement.
