External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar highlighted rising global turbulence and strategic challenges in the Indian Ocean region, calling for deeper cooperation among nations. Speaking at a conference, he underscored the ocean’s role as a vital ecosystem for resources, connectivity, and culture. Jaishankar warned of a more fragmented and competitive world, where globalization is increasingly being “weaponised” and nations are prioritising resilience and trusted partnerships. He also flagged growing concerns over global choke points across sectors. Emphasising collective resilience, he said India’s vision is guided by its “Neighbourhood First” policy and SAGAR outlook amid a rapidly changing global order.
