Delhi Rain: Airlines issue flight advisories amid heavy rainfall; Check latest update

Domestic airlines SpiceJet and IndiGo have issued flight advisories for passengers traveling through Delhi and Dharamsala due to expected delays caused by inclement weather.

In a social media post on June 27, SpiceJet urged passengers to monitor their flight details closely, stating, "Due to bad weather in Dharamshala (DHM) and Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may be affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status."



Similarly, IndiGo also alerted travelers through a tweet, advising, "6ETravelAdvisory: Light showers are gracing Delhi and are set to drench Mumbai all day. While you enjoy better weather, don’t forget to check your flight status at https://bit.ly/3DNYJqj before heading to the airport. Bon voyage!"

Heavy Rainfall Alerts Across North India

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, predicting heavy rainfall across the national capital until July 1. Areas like Palam, Aya Nagar, and Ridge in Delhi reported rainfall in varying amounts recently.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), regions including Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Punjab, and West Rajasthan are expected to experience scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds on June 27.

The Met Department forecasts that rainfall intensity will increase and spread across these areas from June 28-30. Isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated over Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan until June 30, West Uttar Pradesh from June 27-30, and Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab from June 28-30.

Monsoon Update

IMD's latest monsoon update predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in the West Peninsular coast and Northeast India from June 27-30. Northwest India is also likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall during June 28-30.

The forecast includes the possibility of isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Coastal Karnataka on June 26, with Kerala, Mahe, and Tamil Nadu expecting isolated heavy rainfall around the same time.

Isolated very heavy rainfall is expected over Uttarakhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura from June 28-30, East Uttar Pradesh from June 28-29, and Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh from June 29-30.
