Delhi-NCR received heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on Friday that lead to severe waterlogging and significant traffic disruptions in several key areas.

The heavy rainfall has caused significant disruptions on major roads and underpasses, posing challenges for commuters and leading to advisories from the Delhi traffic police.

Traffic affected in key areas:


  • Anuvrat Marg: Traffic heavily affected in both directions from 100 Foota Red Light to Lado Sarai Red Light due to waterlogging.
  • Dhaula Kuan Flyover (Ring Road): Severe waterlogging disrupting traffic from Naraina towards Moti Bagh in both directions.
  • Vir Banda Bairagi Marg: Issues at the Azad Market underpass causing disruptions in both carriageways.
  • Aurobindo Marg: Significant traffic disruptions in both directions from INA towards AIIMS, particularly under the AIIMS Flyover due to waterlogging.
  • Also, Traffic is impacted on both carriageways of the Outer Ring Road from Shantivan to ISBT and in the opposite direction due to waterlogging near Y-point Saleemgarh and Nigambodh Ghat.
The Delhi Traffic Police are advising commuters to stay informed and plan their travel routes in advance to avoid heavily waterlogged areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that this weather pattern will continue over the next few days, featuring generally cloudy skies and varying levels of rainfall with strong winds.

For June 28, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are expected, with wind speeds reaching up to 35 km/h. The weather is anticipated to be slightly cooler on June 29, with a high of 36°C and a low of 28°C, alongside light to moderate rain or thunderstorms and winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h. Temperatures are expected to decrease to 34°C on June 30, with moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds predicted.
