Two days after a tragic flooding incident in Delhi’s Rajinder Nagar claimed the lives of three IAS aspirants, civic authorities have initiated bulldozer operations to clear encroachments obstructing drainage systems. The flooding occurred in a basement library, resulting in the deaths of two women, aged 25, and a 28-year-old man.

IAS Coaching Incident: Civic Authorities Face Criticism

A video shared by news agency ANI captured an earthmover removing cement blocks from the drains. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is facing severe criticism for its role in the incident. The basement library of Rau's IAS Study Circle, where the victims were trapped, was operating in violation of civic regulations. The space was only authorized for parking and storage, not as a library.

RAU IAS Coaching Flooding Incident: Student Protests Erupt

In response to the fatalities, students have been protesting and criticizing the civic authorities for their perceived negligence. "All this is for show," one student remarked, reflecting the general sentiment among the protestors.

Encroachment Removal Underway

Authorities have now begun clearing the encroachments contributing to the waterlogging problem. This move, however, has been met with skepticism by the community, with many viewing it as a delayed and insufficient response to the incident.

Ongoing Investigations

Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the violations and the accountability of those involved. The tragic loss of life has sparked a broader conversation about infrastructure and safety regulations in the city, particularly concerning unauthorized usage of spaces and the efficiency of the civic body's response to emergencies.
