Bangladesh garment protests day 4: Workers walk out again after factories reopen

Garment workers' protests in Bangladesh entered their fourth day on Tuesday, with fresh demonstrations erupting despite the partial reopening of factories in Dhaka's Mirpur area. Workers who had returned as operations resumed walked out again and took to the streets, prompting police deployment. The protests are over demands to raise the minimum monthly wage from BDT 12,500 to BDT 30,000. Meanwhile, Bangladesh's Home Minister has alleged that industrialists linked to the former Awami League government are fuelling unrest in the garment sector.
