AIMIM chief Owaisi condemns Saharanpur mosque demolition, says ‘you cannot bulldoze our masjid’

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has condemned the demolition of a mosque inside the Saharanpur Collectorate complex, questioning the government’s action and raising concerns over religious freedom. Owaisi said the mosque committee had produced records dating back to 1911 to establish the structure’s existence and claimed prayers had been offered there for more than a century. The mosque was demolished on September 5 after a District Judge’s court dismissed the management committee’s appeal against an earlier demolition order. Authorities said the structure had been declared illegal after being found on government land. Owaisi disputed the administration’s position and argued that the long history of worship at the site should have legal significance. His remarks have added to the political debate surrounding the demolition.
