For example, if you are a cardholder of Bank of Baroda (BOB) and you couldn't find a bank ATM nearby, you can use any other bank ATM to withdraw cash. These transactions are processed using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) facility.
How to withdraw cash from an ATM using UPI?
1. First login to your bank app, for HDFC login to HDFC bank, for SBI download SBI Yono or Yono lite.
2. log in to your account using your bank credentials
3. Once you log in, go to the 'UPI QR Cash' functionality
5. On the ATM screen select ‘QR cash’
6. You will have two options displayed to withdraw cash, i.e. Rs 2,000 and Rs 4,000. Select one option as per your requirement.
7. Then scan the QR code displayed on the ATM screen using the ‘QR cash withdrawal’ option in the Yono app.
If a withdrawal fails at an ATM due to a technical glitch and the amount gets deducted from your account, inform your bank immediately. The amount will be credited back into your bank account within seven working days.
As per RBI guidelines, every month, you can withdraw a maximum of Rs 1 lakh through the UPI ATM facility. Through this interoperable cardless cash withdrawal transaction in BOB, customers can avail of two transactions in a day per account, with a withdrawal limit of Rs 5,000 per transaction. And, it depends from bank to bank.
