The fifth stage of the Lok Sabha election 2024 will take place on May 20, covering 49 constituencies across eight states and Union territories. Polling stations will open at 7 am and close at 6 pm on Monday.

In this phase, voters from the following areas will cast their ballots:

Uttar Pradesh: 14 constituencies (Mohanlalganj, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Jalaun, Jhansi, Hamirpur, Banda, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Barabanki, Faizabad, Kaiserganj, Gonda)


Maharashtra: 13 constituencies (Dhule, Dindori, Nashik, Palghar, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Thane, Mumbai North, Mumbai North – West, Mumbai North – East, Mumbai North – Central, Mumbai South – Central, Mumbai South)

West Bengal: 7 constituencies (Bangaon, Barrackpur, Howrah, Uluberia, Sreerampur, Hooghly, Arambag)

Bihar: 5 constituencies (Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Saran, Hajipur)

Odisha: 5 constituencies (Bargarh, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Aska)

Jharkhand: 3 constituencies (Chatra, Kodarma, Hazaribagh)

Jammu and Kashmir: 1 constituency (Baramulla)

Ladakh: 1 constituency (Ladakh)

2024 Lok Sabha Phase 5 polls May 20 : Here's what's open
  • Despite being declared a public holiday, not all private offices will be closed. However, if you are an eligible voter, you are entitled to a public holiday and can take a day off to cast your vote.
  • Hospitals will remain open.

  • The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be closed on May 20 due to the elections, as all six Mumbai seats are voting in this phase.
  • Banks will also be closed in Mumbai, Lucknow, and Belapur on May 20, according to the RBI's bank holiday list.
  • The Maharashtra government has issued a circular stating that voters should be given a paid holiday to exercise their voting rights during the Lok Sabha General Election 2024. This includes workers, officers, employees, and anyone eligible to vote in the affected areas.
  • Schools and colleges will be closed on polling day.
  • Liquor shops will also be shut on the voting day. Additionally, a dry day has been declared in the voting areas 48 hours before the elections begin.
