Kolkata: The final electoral list following the special intensive revision in West Bengal to be published on Saturday. The list was frozen on Wednesday and the printing will take place on Friday.

The final list, along with 60 lakh-plus names with ‘adjudication marks’, will also bear the names of deleted electors, with “deleted” against their names.

Meanwhile, after the publication of the final list on Saturday, supplementary lists will come out in phases.

“The final list will be in the same format as the draft list. The 60 lakh names with the ‘adjudication marks’ will be written as ‘Under Adjudication’ in the list, while the cases which are deleted will be mentioned as ‘deleted’,” West Bengal-chief electoral officer (CEO) Manoj Kumar Agarwal said on Thursday.

“The adjudication is happening as per the Supreme court order. This is the first time any final electoral roll will be having an adjudication-marked list,” the CEO said. There were 7.08 crore names in the draft list.

“There will be many supplementary lists as many phases and names will be included till the last date of nomination,” Agarwal said. The phases will be decided after the announcement of polls.

“The SC said the final list will be published on February 28. Those cases which are under adjudication, after the adjudication process as per the RP Act till the last date of nomination, will be deemed to be in the final list,” the CEO said.

The final list can be seen on ECInet, in district magistrate, BDO and SDO offices, among other places.

CALCUTTA HC MEETING

A high-level meeting of the Calcutta High Court has been convened by Chief Justice Sujay Paul to review the adjudication started by 200-plus judicial officers, predicaments faced by them, appointment of the newly appointed judicial officers from Jharkhand and Odisha and other civil judges.

“Till date 530 judicial officers have been recruited. Out of them, 270-280 are working. There are some teething problems but they are being sorted out. The Calcutta High Court will take a decision on the number of judicial officers from other states. There is no figure on disposal as the high court and we don’t have any dashboard now. Once the dashboard is ready, we will get disposal figures,” CEO Agarwal said.
