West Bengal polls: CM Mamata Banerjee files nomination
Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday filed her nomination from her native Assembly constituency of Bhabanipur in South Kolkata, expressing her confidence to form the government in
Bengal. Banerjee expressed concern about "not eligible" 27 lakh voters after Adjudication by 705 judicial officers.

“More than 27 lakh voters, who are under adjudication, are yet to be in the electoral list. They should be given voting rights. The Supreme Court has also said that those who are under adjudication are genuine voters. People will appeal to the tribunal. What is the point of keeping the process frozen? We will take necessary actions,” Banerjee said.

“I have filed my nomination to contest from this seat. I appeal to the people of Bengal to vote for AITC candidates in all 294 seats. I am sure that we will form the government. I stay here 365 days. Bhabanipur is my karmabhoomi. I extend my greetings to the people of Bhabanipur,” Banerjee said.

“I am sad as names of countless people have been deleted. Only 32 lakh names have been retained out of 1.2 crore voters. This also happened because I filed a case in the Supreme Court. Fifty-eight lakh voters have been deleted in the first phase. That chapter is yet to open. Of course, some voters who are duplicate or deceased will be removed,” an aggrieved Banerjee said.

The list of proposers in Banerjee’s nomination, reflect the “cosmopolitan” nature of Bhabanipur. The proposers in her nomination include Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim’s wife Ismat Hakim, actress-turned-Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member Koel Mallick’s husband, Nishpal Singh Rane, local Trinamool Congress block President Bablu Singh and Bhabanipur Education Society representative Miraj Shah who is Gujarati, among others.
